Animal Crossing: New Horizons Winter Update

Everything Coming In Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ Winter Update

Nintendo today released a trailer for Animal Crossing: New Horizon’s upcoming Winter update.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons launched earlier this year and developers Nintendo EPD has been releasing new updates every few months to trickle content into the critically acclaimed life-simulator game.

The newly announced Winter update will add two new events; Turkey Day on November 26th and Toy Day on December 24th. The update, which was announced via a trailer which you can watch below, will also include plenty of other extras.

New Events, Shops Themes, And Clothing

On Turkey Day, which aligns with Thanksgiving in the United States, turkey chef Franklin will appear outside Resident Services and players will be tasked with bringing him ingredients to cook meals.

In return, players will earn special gifts, although Nintendo hasn’t clarified what these items will be. Some players have speculated the reward could be the Harvest furniture series like in previous games, but this hasn’t been confirmed.

December 24th will be Toy Day, a holiday that seems to be inspired by Christmas. On the day, reindeer Jingle will show up on player islands and users will be asked to help Jingle deliver gifts to villagers with special gifts.

Like with Franklin, Nintendo hasn’t confirmed what the gifts are but fans speculate that it could be the classic Jingle furniture set from previous games but this hasn’t been confirmed.

Starting December 1st, island’s will become decorated with Christmas decorations, Nook’s Cranny will begin selling holiday toys, and Able Sister will begin selling holiday-themed clothing too.

Meanwhile, users can shake trees to collect holiday ornaments to craft holiday-themed items.

Other New Winter Update Additions

Alongside the two new events and holiday-themed items, the Winter update is bringing plenty more changes to the game including the ability to upgrade house item storage.

Once you’ve upgraded your house to the maximum size and paid off all remaining debt, you can speak to Tom Nook at Resident Services to expand item storage from 1,600 to 2,400. Unfortunately, Nintendo has confirmed how much this upgrade will cost.

The Winter update will also include six brand new hairstyles which can be unlocked by purchasing the new Top Six Stylish Hairstyles card with Nook Miles.

There are also nine new reactions coming with the update, they include; Sit Down, Wave Goodbye, Take A Picture, Sniff Sniff, Work Out, Yoga, Here You Go, Excited, and Ta-da. These new reactions can be unlocked by purchasing the Hip Reaction Collection card with Nook Miles.

Save Data Transfer And 2021’s First Update

In addition to all of the above content, Nintendo will finally launch the long-awaited Save Data Transfer, allowing users to transfer entire islands from one system to another.

Users choosing to transfer data will need to use the Island Transfer Tool which can be downloaded for free from the Nintendo eShop.

Finally, Nintendo also announced in the Winter update trailer that it will release the next update in late January alongside an image of NPC Pavé, a peacock who in previous games hosted the Festivalé event which usually involved catching feathers for special rewards.

The Animal Crossing: New Horizons Winter update is set to release this Friday on November 19th. You can watch a trailer for the update below:
