The mainline 2023 Summer Game Fest Showcase was jam-packed with game announcements, reveals, and updates. With so much taking place at the event, we thought we’d quickly run down some of the best reveals of Summer Game Fest 2023. What was your favourite?

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Release Date

One of the biggest announcements coming out of the mainline Summer Game Fest 2023 Showcase was an official release date for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on PlayStation 5, along with two pieces of concept art, confirming that Venom is not Eddie Brock, and the unveiling of the game’s stunning box art via an interview with game director Bryan Intihar.

Shortly after the interview, PlayStation and Insomniac Games unveiled pre-order information, as well as details of the base, Digital Deluxe, and Collector’s Editions of the game, which we’ve reported on here.

Lies Of P Demo Launch And Release Date

Lies Of P is a Souls-like adaptation of Pinocchio developed by Round 8 Studio. Announced back in 2021, the game made an appearance at Summer Game Fest 2023 where a new gameplay trailer was shown. The studio also confirmed a release date for the game and announced the launch of a demo for all platforms.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Announcement

Square Enix stunned the crowd at Summer Game Fest 2023 by closing the show with an announcement trailer for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, the second part of the Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy. The announcement included gameplay and confirmation of an early 2024 release window for the game on PlayStation 5.

Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown Reveal

Ubisoft made an appearance at Summer Game Fest 2023 by announcing Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown, a brand-new 2.5D side-scroller adventure puzzle game developed by Ubisoft Montpellier. The announcement trailer included gameplay as well as a January 18th, 2024 release date for Switch, PC, and all PlayStation and Xbox consoles.

Mortal Kombat 1 New Gameplay

Mortal Kombat 1 is a reboot of the Mortal Kombat fighting game series, and the title made an appearance at Summer Game Fest 2023 where brand-new gameplay was unveiled, offering a look at some of the new mechanics available. Director Ed Boon also made an appearance to share some details of the game, all while confirming a September 19th, 2023, launch.

Sonic Superstars Reveal

Summer Game Fest 2023 included a surprise appearance from Sega, which announced Sonic Superstars, a brand-new side-scrolling platform game that takes inspiration from the titles released back in the 90s. The announcement included gameplay, as well as confirmation of a late 2023 release date for PC, Switch, and PlayStation and Xbox consoles.

Alan Wake 2 Gameplay Footage

After unveiling a brand-new trailer of Alan Wake 2 at the 2023 PlayStation Showcase, Remedy Entertainment appeared at the Summer Game Fest to drop an extended gameplay trailer for the game, offering a closer look at how you’ll play as Saga Anderson, one of two playable characters in the survival horror game.

The Witcher Season 3 Trailer

Summer Game Fest isn’t all about games, as Geoff Keighley shared the first trailer for the third season of Netflix’s The Witcher, the first part of which is launching on June 29th, 2023. The trailer included an adorable introduction from cast members Henry Cavill, Anya Chalotra, Freya Allan, and Joey Batey.

Nicolas Cage In Dead By Daylight

Finally, Summer Game Fest included a surprise appearance by Nicolas Cage who was revealed to be coming to Dead By Daylight on July 25th. The announcement included a brief interview with the famous actor, as well as a look at some of the Nic Cage gameplay.
