Ratchet And Clank: Rift Apart Will NOT Release On PS4

Insomniac Games have confirmed that Ratchet And Clank: Rift Apart will not release on PS4 and is a next-gen exclusive.

Although several upcoming PS5 games were touted as being exclusive to the new PlayStation 5 console, Sony revealed back in September that Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Sackboy: A Big Adventure, and Horizon Forbidden West will be launching on PS4.

Since then, many fans have expressed concern that Ratchet And Clank: Rift Apart could release on PlayStation 4 too, but developers Insomniac Games have confirmed that this will not happen as Rift Apart is a PS5 exclusive.

Responding to a fan asking whether the game will release on PS5, Insomniac Games simply responded by saying: “It’s a PS5 exclusive”.

Since the game heavily depends on the PlayStation’s speedy SSD for instant dimension-hopping, it’s likely that the video game wouldn’t run as well on PlayStation 4 consoles or would have been heavily cut back and filled with loading screens when jumping between dimensions.

There’s no release date for Ratchet And Clank: Rift Apart but it’s thought that the title may release in 2021 within the PS5’s first year, and it joins the likes of other date-less PS5 exclusives such as Horizon Forbidden Dawn, Gran Turismo 7, and the God Of War sequel.

Sony’s PlayStation 5 launches November 19th in the UK, a week after games Demon’s Souls and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales release on November 12th.
