Square Enix To Announce New Games Between July And August

Square Enix has announced that it will be announcing new games individually between the months of July and August.

The news was first reported by Gematsu who said that the game publisher announced the news during a stakeholder meeting on June 24th. The company would have announced its new titles at E3 2020 but to the event’s cancellation over COVID-19 has forced Square Enix to move to other plans.

When asked about the company’s plan on announcing new titles at the conference, Square Enix said: “We had planned to have a press conference as a replacement event, but were unable to do so since assets were not complete. We’ll be announcing new titles individually as the time permits. Several will debut around July to August.”

It’s unclear what games the publisher will announce and for which platforms they’ll be compatible with. One of the games Square Enix is currently working on is Project Athia, an adventure game that was designed for the PS5 and announced at PlayStation’s PS5 reveal event alongside other games Horizon: Forbidden West, Resident Evil Village, and Spider-Man: Miles Morales.

It’s possible we might see more of Project Athia within the coming months, but many fans are hoping that the publisher will be announcing a new instalment in the Final Fantasy series or the second half of the Final Fantasy VII remake.

We’ll have to wait until next month to find out more so remember to check back!
