PlayStation Launches Mobile Division, To Acquire Mobile Developer Savage Game Studios
Sony PlayStation has announced the launch of its new PlayStation Studios Mobile Division alongside the acquisition of mobile game developer Savage Game Studios.
Head of PlayStation Studios Hermen Hulst announced the news in a PlayStation blog post, revealing that the firm has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the Berlin-based mobile game developer, which was founded in 2020 with “the goal of fearlessly exploring bold new ideas”.
Hulst states that the mobile division will provide more ways for people to engage with PlayStation Studios content and will allow the company to reach new audiences unfamiliar with PlayStation and its games.
Savage Game Studios will operate independently from PlayStation’s console development and will focus on creating innovative, on-the-go experiences based on new and existing IPs.
Hulst reiterated that the new mobile division combined with PlayStation Studio’s plans on porting titles to PC will “in no way diminish our commitment to the PlayStation community, nor our passion to keep making amazing single-player, narrative-driven experiences.”
Savage Game Studios is already working on a new unannounced AAA mobile live service action game, but Hulst states that it’s “too early to reveal more”.
