Nintendo Will Reportedly Hold A New Direct This Month

New rumours have surfaced claiming that Nintendo has a new Direct video planned for the later this month.

It’s been several months since Nintendo last held one of its Direct broadcasts, videos which feature gameplay footage of new titles and act as a space to share information on or announce games.

According to WccfTech, Pokémon insider KeliosFR, who predicted Nintendo’s Mini Direct from back in March, has claimed that a new Direct is scheduled to take place this month. KeliosFR first teased news of the Direct on Twitter in a response to a tweet by Jeff Grubb listing all of the upcoming game reveals and events throughout the summer.

Then, KeliosFR shared a post on ResetEra forums claiming that the Direct could take place around July 16th. With Microsoft set to hold its next-gen Xbox game showcase on July 23rd, it’s likely that Nintendo will drop its Direct before then.

Unfortunately, nothing has been confirmed yet and since Nintendo likes to drop surprises on its fans, we’ll have to take the information with a pinch of salt until at least next week.

Regardless, Nintendo fans are starved for information and are looking forward to when they’ll next hear about games. Many are looking forward to hearing information about the upcoming Paper Mario: The Origami King, as well as discover more information about future content for Animal Crossing: New Horizons including the planned August update.

Rumours Of Breath Of The Wild 2

What most fans are hoping for, however, is the release of a new trailer for The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2 which was announced last year at E3. Unfortunately, the game developers and Nintendo have remained somewhat quiet about the game with no official information released.

Rumours have suggested that the sequel was conceived when the game’s developers were planning for the original game’s DLC and had “too many ideas”. It’s also been rumoured that the sequel will build onto the world of the first game and include new gameplay elements inspired by Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Redemption II.

Earlier this week it was widely reported that voice actors for the Spanish dub of Breath Of The Wild said they had finished recording their voice work for the sequel in podcast A Coffee With Nintendo.

However, as major gaming outlets ran the story it was later confirmed that the interview was a mistranslation as actors Navarro and Nerea Alfonso were only joking about the secrecy surrounding the project.

The Spanish podcast even shared a statement on Twitter regarding the misunderstanding, stating that they were “surprised” over how media outlets covered the interview and jumped to “incorrect and out-of-context conclusions”.

Although it seems that the announced sequel to Breath Of The Wild may still be a little far off, we may receive more information in this month’s Nintendo Direct. There’s been a drought of information and what better to stir up fan excitement than announcing a sequel to a critically acclaimed game?

We’ll have to wait and see to find out. In the meantime, remember to check back on SimpleGamer to stay up-to-date on the latest gaming news and announcements.
